Foundations: Your Online Presence
A strong online presence allows clients to find you easily, builds your professional credibility, and helps you stay top-of-mind with your network.
1. Create Your Social Media Accounts
Social media is one of the fastest ways to build visibility and connect with potential clients. Our suggestion is to set-up accounts on these three platforms:
-
Facebook – Great for community engagement, sharing listings, and running targeted ads.
-
Instagram – Visual storytelling platform perfect for showcasing properties, behind-the-scenes moments, and market updates.
-
LinkedIn – Builds your professional credibility and helps connect with industry contacts.
Tip: Use the same professional headshot and branding across all platforms to ensure consistency.
2. Access Your BoldTrail All-in-One Marketing Centre
Your BoldTrail All-in-One Marketing Centre is your hub for essential business tools — it houses your brokerage website profile, marketing materials, and more. This is often the first place potential clients will see your professional information, so make sure it’s accurate and compelling.
-
Ensure your BoldTrail profile has a current, professional headshot
-
Verify your contact information is correct (phone number, email, social media links)
-
Add a short, engaging introduction that tells people who you are and how you can help
-
Explore marketing resources within BoldTrail to find ready-made templates and tools you can start using immediately

3. Import and Organize Your Existing Contacts
Your contact list is one of your most valuable tools in real estate. Setting it up properly from day one makes it easier to stay in touch, follow up at the right time, and grow your business without feeling scattered.
-
Import All Current Contacts — past clients, current leads, friends and family, and anyone else you might want to stay connected with. Pull from your phone, email, spreadsheets, or any other platforms you’ve used before.
- Don't have contacts? Export a list from your email: Export from Gmail | Export from Outlook
- Have more than 25 contacts to import? Use BoldTrail's bulk import feature
-
Use tags or groups to keep things organized. This way, you can quickly find and connect with the right people when you need to. Common examples include:
-
Past Clients — for check-ins, market updates, and referral requests
-
Active Leads — for property alerts and timely follow-up
-
Sphere of Influence — friends, family, and community connections
-
Vendors and Partners — mortgage brokers, home inspectors, contractors
-
-
Clean it up as you go. Make sure names are spelled correctly, contact info is up-to-date, and duplicates are merged.
-
Think ahead. Your database will grow fast once you start marketing and networking. A little organization now means you’ll be able to find people easily later and never miss an opportunity.
Tip: Treat your database like a living, breathing part of your business. Keep it updated and organized so it can help you build stronger relationships and close more deals.
4. Make Your First Social Post
Getting active on social media early helps you build momentum and lets people know you’re in business. Your first post doesn’t have to be complicated — it just needs to start the conversation.
We have a multitude of designs available for you to customize in your BoldTrail Design Centre.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
-
Promote a listing – Share a property from our brokerage. If it’s not your own listing, you’ll need to ask permission first (your mentor can help with this).
-
Introduce yourself – Share a friendly photo and invite people to visit your new website to learn more about you.
-
Announce your new career – Post something personal about starting your journey in real estate and your excitement to help clients.
Tip: Done is better than perfect — your first social posts don’t need to be fancy. Keep it simple, be yourself, and get something out there. The more you post, the easier (and more natural) it will feel.
Wrapping Up
If you’ve worked through the steps above, you’re well on your way to building a strong, professional online presence that showcases your business. With your foundation in place, you can start sharing content, connecting with your audience, and turning those connections into clients.
